Marriage through buying and selling does not have legal effect.
According to relevant laws and regulations, marriage should be completely voluntary for both men and women, which prohibits either party from forcing the other, any organization or individual from interfering, and arranged or bought and sold marriages.
Article 1042 of the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China
Prohibit arranged marriages, buying and selling marriages, and other acts that interfere with marital freedom. It is prohibited to solicit property through marriage.
Prohibition of bigamy. It is prohibited for married individuals to cohabit with others.
Prohibition of domestic violence. Prohibition of abuse and abandonment among family members.

Article 257 of the Criminal Law stipulates that those who violently interfere with the freedom of marriage of others shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than two years or criminal detention. Whoever commits the crime mentioned in the preceding paragraph and causes the death of the victim shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than two years but not more than seven years. The first offense will only be dealt with if it is reported.

Marriage can be dissolved through buying and selling. According to the law, if a party suffers harm due to the sale of a marriage, they may request the revocation of the marriage from the people's court. A request for revocation of marriage shall be made within one year from the date of termination of the infringing act. If the circumstances are serious, it can be treated as the crime of trafficking in women and children, and the public security organs or people's courts shall investigate their criminal responsibility.
