Procedures for marriage with foreigners

If the other party is an overseas Chinese, the following procedures are required:
1. My passport or identity and nationality documents in lieu of a passport (stateless individuals are exempt from submission);
2. Alien Residence Permit issued by the public security organ of China;
3. A certificate of my name, gender, date of birth, marital status, occupation, and who I am applying to marry issued by the county-level people's government or the county-level or higher government, school, institution, or enterprise unit where my household registration is located or where I work.

2. Marriage age: Male must be at least 22 years old and female must be at least 20 years old.
3. Both parties have no spouse (unmarried, divorced, widowed).
4. There is no direct blood relationship or collateral blood relationship within three generations between the two parties.

Both married men and women must go to the marriage registration office in the place where one party's household registration is located to apply for marriage registration with their own resident identity cards, registered residence certificates, photos, and certificates of marital status (unmarried, divorced, widowed) issued by their unit or village committee (neighborhood committee). When applying for remarriage, divorced individuals should also present their divorce documents. In places where premarital health check ups are implemented, the parties applying for marriage must also go to designated medical and health institutions for premarital health check ups and submit proof of premarital health check ups to the marriage registration authority.
